Happy April (non) Fool's Day!

Hello, friends.

We know it's been a couple of months since we last wrote anything down. We don't think anyone can be too surprised about that, though. After all, it's been "winter" and we wild animals like to hibernate in the winter, and so we've been doing a lot of sleeping. Not that this is very different from the times where it's not winter; it just gives us a better excuse.
Last week's birthday girl!!
As we write this, we are between two important days: last Tuesday, Rozi became one years old. And, this week, Izzi will be three! Yup, it's birthday week for us and we're so excited. We haven't gotten many presents, so Rozi has "found" some around the house that she thinks are for her. Like a red pen (that made her sick after she sucked on it) and a yellow marker (ditto). We joked that if she could find a blue pencil, she'll have hit all the primary colors and all the primary writing instruments! At least, it was supposed to be a joke; she's still looking.

We may get some presents this week since Izzi, who is older and may possibly care about presents, is having her birthday. Rozi, who is younger and only cares about food, just wants more to eat. We think that we might get scrambled eggs some day this week, since they're yummy and good for us. But, we don't want to be disappointed, so we're settling for rotisserie chicken most nights, although our mama has to put in something she calls "dog food" just to give us more energy or something.

This week, for Rozi's birthday, we did get a special treat of a steak that had a bone in it. First, like the ladies that 50% of us are, we calmly ate the meat that mama put on our plates, and it was delicious. But, we had another treat that we didn't know about...the bone from the steak!  At first, we had trouble eating it or chewing it because it was so big, but we practiced and by the next morning, we were schlepping it around the house like a toy or a pen (Rozi only).
This week's birthday girl!!

We're happy that "winter" is over, but since it was not much of a winter, Rozi didn't get to spend a lot of time learning about snow. When she did get a chance to go out in a little of it, and walk around on a little of it, she liked it some. We are both hoping that next winter brings more snow so that we can make a snow tunnel in the back yard and sneak up on bunnies and birdies that try to be in our yard. That'll show 'em!

Since the ground is clear, we've been able to go outside and sniff a lot. And, of course, scare off any bunnies and birdies who think they can just walk or land on our grass. We don't stand for that, so we cry until someone lets us outside and then we run straight for the varmint and then we bark because they're too fast for us (or they have wings, or both). So, we're left in the yard with our little bodies filled with adrenalin, but not sure what to do with it. Hence, the barking.

We've also gotten into a good routine in the evenings. Sometimes, we get our teeth brushed with special toothpaste for puppies like us, so that we have good breaths and clean teeth. Izzi likes the vanilla mint best; Rozi likes the chicken flavor best, tied with the vanilla mint and anything that's laying around the bedroom floor.

But sometimes, on special nights, we get special tooth chew toys that are yummy and that cleans our teeth but not as good as the toothpaste. When we hear that we might get a "bone" (although this is not the same as the birthday bone that we got...it's flat and crunchy and tastes minty), we run to the end of the bed, waiting for it. Rozi gets so excited about it that she just about leaps off the bed to get hers. Izzi always goes first and puts her treat somewhere where only she can get it, but doesn't always start chewing right away; Rozi starts chewing before it's in her mouth. But, even though Rozi finishes first, both of us enjoy having this special way of keeping our teeth clean.

And, the other new thing is that Izzi, who gets thirsty at night, has found a way to get her water. See, before Rozi, Izzi would walk over to a night table and start to sip at whatever glass was there. But, since Rozi is still working on "holding it in" during the nighttime, she can't have anything to drink, which meant that the glasses of water were taken off the table. But, Izzi has figured out that if she cries a little and walks into the bathroom, she'll get a bowl of water as the door is shut behind her to keep Rozi out. Rozi isn't yet sure about where Izzi goes, and doesn't suspect much since the water doesn't have a color or flavor, two things that would tip her off.

So, that's what we've been up to over the last few months. We were sleeping today, but agreed to have these pictures taken. As you can see, we're a little overdue for a g-r-o-o-m-i-n-g, and we think that we heard people talking about that and that we might be going there soon. We're not happy about that but since we are - combined - only 4 years old, we have a long way to go to be able to get our own place (and/or drive away when we don't want to do something).

Arf, Yip, Yip, Arf,
Izzi & Rozi
