You know it's hard to pretend...

First of all, we want to point out that there's been a lot of music played in the house this year, and while we would prefer that it be of the high-pitched no-one-but-dogs-can-hear variety, we do like a good tune. And, since one of the songs that we've heard so much is by Supertramp and seems to be relevant, we thought we'd entitle this post with it.

Because, see, it *is* raining today. And, when it rains, we get even more lazy (yes, that's possible) than a normal day.

Rozi just wants to sleep, allowing the gentle pitter patter of the rain drops falling on the roof and the windows to lull her to sleep. She loves drifting away as the sheets of rain pound against the house, feeling happy, dry, and warm and often in one of her little beds. When it rains, the day for Rozi is like any other, but maybe a little darker outside the house.

For Izzi, it's a living hell.

Even before the rain begins, Izzi can sense the change in the atmosphere, using her keen senses to know that the pressure has changed ever so slightly and that soon there will be dark skies and loud noises. She hates when the rain actually comes, often looking for a place to go to get away from it. We've talked about her many hiding places: downstairs in the back of the closet; in the laundry room in a laundry basket, protected from the world by a 'force field' of plastic; the back of the closet upstairs, where she can get lost among the scarves and other clothes. While no place is ideal, she's learned that these and a few other places make her feel less anxious.

This morning's rain, then, was no different than the typical rain storm. She realized that the rains were coming, and concealed herself in the upstairs closet. After some convincing (and being picked up gently and removed from the closet), she came out and got her ThunderJacket on, being careful not to damage the pretty bandanna she got yesterday (as an aside, Rozi had hers of about an hour after coming home yesterday). And, then she wanted to be held, and was shaking so much that it would likely have been scientifically possible to attach a bowl with milk and ice cream to her and produce a milk shake in about 1 minute. But, shake she did and - happily - eventually calmed down as the rain abated.

Now, the two of us are walking around the house, cautious that the rains may start again. Izzi still has her jacket on (just in case) and Rozi is getting as much rest in as she can because...well, she's Rozi.
