Cookies!!

We know that you humans are regularly confronted with choices about what to eat. You have to think about things like "cholesterol" and "fat" and "gluten" and "spicy" and "chocolate". We, on the other hand, have no real problems, since we don't really get to choose what to eat. Our mama always makes us a nice breakfast and a nice dinner, and even though there are often traces of what she calls "dog food" mixed in with the chicken and the turkey and the bacon and the treats, it's generally a yummy breakfast. For Rozi, it's sometimes a yummy second breakfast if Izzi isn't fast enough to finish her plate.

But, we have to admit that each of us cannot help ourselves from snacking between meals. It's not really our fault: there are times that we're hungry and wish there were healthy choices, but if someone decides that we're cute and we should have a potato chip or a piece of pretzel or some cheese from those big pizzas they eat, then who are we to argue? Food is food, right? And, the whole point is that we need to eat the correct amount of food so that we can have the energy it takes to walk around the house and - when needed - jump up on the couch.

So, when our mama decides to bake, we are truly in our glory! Not only does it mean that we can walk around her ankles as she scurries from one side of our ktichen to the other, it also means that if we're good girls, we get to eat some of the cookie batter before it's a cookie. that's the way we like it best, when it's soft and gooey and cool. Sure, we'll choke down a cookie that's been in the oven and is now crispier, but the feeling of the dough as it slides down our throats is unlike any other treat that we can get.

Today was a really lucky day for us, then, since our mama is baking and also she's not leaving us all alone. When we heard the mixer thingy buzzing away in the kitchen, we knew that we were in for a treat. Literally.

We think that our mama needs us around the kitchen when she's making the cookie dough, because even though she's an amazing cook, she's (um) a little clumsy. There are so many times that she'll suddenly say "oops, some cookie dough fell on the floor" and we know that she's happy that we're there to clean it up. This helps her from having to clean it up herself.

And, so, we're looking forward to maybe more baking today and more cleaning up (if we have to!). And, when the cookies are done, we'll have maybe a bit (for Rozi, maybe seven) and then use that energy to power us through the rest of the day.

Until it's time go to bed.

Yip, Yip, Arf, Yip,
Izzi & Rozi
