Birthday Week, 2013

This idea that there should be a celebration to recognize the fact that you've made it one more rotation around the sun is really funny to us. That is, all we did was spend the last 365 days lolling around the house, running around the backyard, taking naps, eating, eating more, and taking more naps. And, yet, we both find ourselves - one year later - still looking and feeling great, still loving life, and ready to face another year (especially if we keep getting treats and hugs).
How come we didn't get a cake like this?
Anyway, we thought we would share with you this last hectic "birthday week" that we shared.

Rozi's birthday came first on the 27th of March. Because it's only her second birthday, she wasn't sure about what to expect. As a treat, our mama gave her some extra food, but even that wasn't too much of a surprise, since she always seems to manage to end up eating somewhere between 60% and 90% of all the food left out for us, no matter where it's left. We both also got a special treat at sleeptime, which we remember as being an extra bone, but it may have been a greenie. Since we're ready for the first of our seven naps today, we're starting to forget details about the last few days.

Rozi was excited to be 2 years old, since she felt that she know had the breadth of knowledge and athletic prowess to accomplish what she'd been striving for over her first two years of existence: catching her elusive tail. And, she did! She caught it several times, but in a sequence of events that no one saw coming, lost it and had to catch it all over again. Which she did! And, then sadly, lost. And found! And lost. And found! Well, she was exhausted after all that 'celebrating' and fell right to sleep.

For dinner on Rozi's birthday, we got some yummy chicken and special lamb treats mixed in.....what's that?...oh, right. We just remembered that that's our dinner on most nights, so maybe we didn't have a special dinner on Rozi's birthday.

Rozi didn't get any special present, but our mama told both of us that we had a special birthday present coming up that we would share on Izzi's birthday, so we now had something to look forward to (although we weren't really sure when Izzi's birthday was...we're not really good with clocks or calendars).

Well, it turns out that Izzi's birthday was pretty soon after Rozi's (who knew?): April 2. And, so we had our second birthday celebration in just a week. We woke up all excited because we knew that it was going to be a special day. Now that Izzi was four years old (and, as was pointed out to us but we're not so good at math, twice as old as Rozi) she was looking forward to her 'teenage years' with excitement. She hopes that now that she's put her early years behind her, maybe she'll get a smartphone so she can text and IM her friends, but there was no special gift box when we both woke up.

Instead, our mama told us that we were going to go somewhere to get our double birthday present, which excited Izzi, who loves riding in cars, and gave Rozi agita, since she's a bit more - um - particular when it comes to modes of transportation.

So, as we drove, we wondered where we were going? Shopping for new outfits? To a place that sells Shabbos chickens (even though it was Tuesday)? Nope, it was...

A spa day!!!!

(Or, at least, that's what our mama called it; we called it "going to the groomers", which we didn't think was a great present). But, as it happened, we had an amazing time. Because our hair had gotten a bit long, we had enough so that we each got a special 'birthday bow' in our hair and we came out of the spa day a little tired, but a lot beautiful.

And, we had another special-but-not-really-special dinner that night. And, we maybe got an extra couple of treats at night time.

So, we're now done with our birthday celebrations for the year, and that's a good thing because all the celebrating (and being washed, hair cut, washed again, dried off, and bowed) is tiring and we just wanted to rest afterwards. Thank goodness it's now the weekend so that we can catch up on our rest.

Arf, Yip, Yip, Arf,
Izzi & Rozi
