There, and back again

Yesterday, we woke up as we do every day, and we thought it was going to be a "stay in bed and cuddle day" since the rule that we follow is six "no cuddle" days and then one "cuddle day" and we knew that there have been six of the "no cuddles" (mama doesn't know but we put one little bit of kibble under the couch on every "no cuddle" day and we check it and when there are six, we know that we're in for a "cuddle" day and also we eat the kibble).

But, something was different. We had a feeling that this was going to be a strange kind of day since our little carriers were brought out before we went to bed and Izzi had a rough night, worrying that yesterday was going to be a "beauty parlor" or a "doctor" day. It turned out it was something else, and we were not sure what it was.

When we got going, our mama did not have our breakfast ready, so we knew that the day was only going to get stranger by the minute, and we were right. She put on our jackets and put us on our strings and took us outside, and Rozi did a Houdini thing and was soon out of the jacket! Mama took us back inside and put on a different jacket for Rozi and then it happened...we were brought into a car with her and we started to move without walking, and that's usually something that's not a good thing. We barely had time to get used to being in the car again when we stopped and our mama left us and we were not happy, so we cried for her until she heard us and came back.

Then, we were moving again and were still not moving our legs and we looked outside the windows of the car and wondered which it would be: beauty parlor or doctor. But, we know that if we count in our heads, we come to a number that means "beauty parlor" and if we're still in the car and keep counting, it means "doctor" but we got to that number, too, and still did not stop. Now, we were very confused. We were both anxious, but now there were so many other cars and so much of the trees and buildings were moving by us so fast we did not know what to think. We worried about where we were going and worrying makes us nervous and nervousness makes us anxious and anxiety makes us sleepy. And, so we took a nap.

And, just as we were getting cozy on our blanket with our mama, the car stopped and our strings were put on our jackets and we were out of the car. What was this place, we wondered? There was lots of grass and trees and some buildings and our mama ran away from us and we were sad and then she came back and held our strings and we relaxed enough to sniff around and started to get comfortable. But, before we could really enjoy this new place (was it our new home?), we were back in the car, back on the blanket that was on her lap and the trees started to move fast and there were more cars and we were very confused.

So confused that we didn't know how much time had passed (we stopped counting a long time ago) and we got sleepy again and were asleep for a long time...maybe a few years...and then we heard noises of cars honking and other sounds and we were going slow and there were people on bicycles and walking and other puppies and so we pushed ourselves against the window of the car and we made our presence known!

We were still confused about where we were, but it seemed the tiniest bit familiar. After a not too long time, we stopped and mama took us on our strings to a little park for dogs and we walked around and finally got to relax after smelling all the smells. And, then the biggest surprise of the day happened.

We were at Grammy's!

Yes, back in New York, our mama said, and we had not been there for a long time and we were so happy to see Grammy! We spend the whole day with her and mama and Izzi was a good girl and got an A+++ for the day and Rozi was not, and she got a C- since she barked at every noise in the hallway and tried to bite anyone who came to visit Grammy. But, we had fun even though we did not sleep. And, then when we wanted to go home, our mama took us outside to the dog park for a little while and then we were back in the car and moving again, and we got our last barks in for the people on the street and their puppies.

We don't know what happened next, since we both fell asleep and when we woke up, we were back in our house. Guess we were pretty tired from not napping (and Rozi, from all the barking).
Home again!

Today, we're just chillin', and we're happy to be back home, but it was great to see Grammy!
